Because little was accomplished at President Obama’s Health Forum yesterday, it is now more likely than ever that the President and Congressional Democrats will forge ahead to pass some form of healthcare reform legislation without any Republican support.
The worst scenario for our industry would be for the House of Representatives to approve the Senate version of the bill, which passed the Senate last Christmas Eve and contains the Tan Tax. … continue reading

JACKSON, Mich. (Feb. 25) — The American Academy of Dermatology on Thursday fraudulently attacked the indoor tanning industry, again misrepresenting the complex correlation between UV exposure and the potential for skin damage.
In a press release issued Thursday, AAD suggested that indoor tanning causes melanoma — despite the fact there is no direct experimental data showing a causal relationship, that most studies do not show an association, that melanoma is more common in indoor workers than in outdoor workers, that it appears most frequently on non-sun-exposed parts of the body, that some dermatology leaders contend that the two are not connected at all and that legitimate, peer-reviewed confounding information exists.… continue reading
