A new gadget invented in New Zealand is unlocking all sorts of information about the sun, UV and Vitamin D. The Dosimeter measures the dose of UV radiation we’re exposed to when we head out into the sun. The device “tells you how much UV you get, as opposed to a meteorological device which might sit outside always exposed to the sun,” says NIWA principal scientist Dr Richard McKenzie. |

When you are exposed to sunlight, you make not only vitamin D but also at least five and up to ten additional photoproducts that you would never get from dietary sources or from a supplement.

The Porcupine Health Unit is pleased to announce that its Board of Health has carried a motion to support the Canadian Cancer Society’s call for government action that will protect the public from the harmful effects of artificial tanning.
