CRD seeking youth ban on tanning beds – Vancouver Island

The Capital Regional District is seeking a ban on tanning beds for youth.
The region has moved a step closer to banning people under the age of 18 from using tanning beds.
A Capital Regional District committee voted unanimously yesterday to ask the regional board to approve a bylaw that would restrict tanning bed use by those under 18.

Nanoparticles in sunscreens could be toxic if accidentally eaten, according to scientists.
Philip Moos and colleagues have said that particle size affects the toxicity of zinc oxide, a material widely used in sunscreens.
Particles smaller than 100 nanometers are slightly more toxic to colon cells than conventional zinc oxide.… continue reading
