 The public will be asked for feedback on a proposal to ban use of tanning beds in the capital region by anyone under 18.
Dr. Richard Stanwick, chief medical health officer for the Vancouver Island Health Authority, is recommending the bylaw.

Victoria may ban teens from tanning beds

VICTORIA — British Columbia’s capital could soon become one of the only jurisdictions in Canada to ban teens from indoor tanning salons over concerns the practice causes cancer.
The regional district that includes Victoria and surrounding communities is considering a bylaw that would, among other things, prohibit anyone under 18 from using tanning beds and require ID from anyone who appears to be under 25.

Going out to get a tan in Victoria could soon feel a lot like heading to the bar if a proposal to ban underage patrons from tanning salons is passed into law.
The Capital Regional District is considering a bylaw that would ban people under 18 from using tanning beds, and would require identification from anyone who appears under 25.
