Tanning salon owners are speaking out against a bylaw that will curtail the rights of parents in Greater Victoria.

Roughly 3 million Canadians aged 6 to 79 (10%) had inadequate concentrations of vitamin D in their blood (less than 37.5 nanomoles per litre), when surveyed between March 2007 and February 2009. Of these, 1.1 million were vitamin-D deficient. Lower concentrations were associated with darker skin, as it is more difficult for people with darker skin to get adequate vitamin D through sun exposure.… continue reading

CHICAGO — African-American men living in areas with low sunlight are up to 3 ½ times more likely to have Vitamin D deficiency than Caucasian men and should take high levels of Vitamin D supplements, according to a new study from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.… continue reading
