Cedric Garland, Dr. PH, FACE, UCSD School of Medicine, studied vitamin D serum levels of 1200 healthy, premenopausal women, 600 who later developed breast cancer and 600 who remained cancer-free, and found that those with the lowest levels of vitamin D within three months of their breast cancer diagnosis had a risk three times greater than those in the highest level group.

At the beginning, when diagnosed with a stage 3 tumor, 2.5 inches in diameter (yes, 2.5 inches), the oncologist said, "of course, you'll do surgery, chemo and radiation."
