FDA Withheld Information About the Safety Risks of Aveeno and Neutrogena Sunscreens Contaminated With Benzene

The FDA’s report on the recalled Johnson & Johnson sunscreens noted that the company’s test results for benzene found a concentration range of 11.2 to 23.6 parts per million, above limits set by the U.S. Pharmacopeia, a nonprofit organization that publishes guidelines for contaminants in consumer products, as well as by a separate group, the International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH). “These levels exceed ICH and USP the guideline value of 2 ppm,” the FDA report says. continue reading
