KELOWNA – Members of the Joint Canadian Tanning Association in November recognized the world’s first “Vitamin D Awareness Month” – an event sponsored by Canada’s Vitamin D Society designed to increase awareness of Canada’s vitamin D deficiency crisis. “Canadian indoor tanning facilities have been very successful pointing out that UVB in sunlight and in most tanning units is the body’s natural way to make vitamin D,” JCTA Executive Director Steve Gilroy said.… continue reading

I’m writing to you about an article the ran in Elle Magazine, March issue, on page 190 and the comments made by Dr Jason Rivers with regards to tanning equipment. Dr Rivers comment: You can’t compare the two because tanning beds emit mostly UVA which penetrate the skin deeper – whereas the sun emits a combination of UVA and UVB rays Dr Rivers is right about one thing you can’t compare tanning indoors to outside because tanning indoors is a more controlled environment.… continue reading
